TO RECEIVE YASHAR’S “WOMAN OF THE YEAR” AWARD

NEW YORK, NY – May 11, 2017 – Greenspoon Marder is pleased to announce that attorney Lauren Chartan has been selected as “Woman of the Year” by Yashar, the attorney’s and judges’ chapter of Hadassah. Ms. Chartan, a member of Yashar’s Board, will be presented with the award at Hadassah’s National Conference at the Marriott Hotel in Uniondale, New York on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.

Hadassah, founded in 1912, is a volunteer organization that focuses on strengthening relations with Israel and ensuring Jewish continuity. Yashar was established in 1994, by a group of Jewish woman lawyers and judges, who saw a need for networking and felt a strong desire to give back to the Jewish community and Hadassah, in particular. It was the first and, to our knowledge, remains the only Attorneys’ and Judges’ Chapter of Hadassah. Chartered on February 16, 1994, the Chapter was aptly named “Yashar”, the Hebrew word for Justice. As the name suggests, the members of Yashar are committed to contributing their legal talents to further Hadassah’s educational and social goals. Yashar continues to thrive both as a Hadassah chapter and a vital component of Nassau County’s legal community, being listed as a bar association in the Nassau County Bar Association’s directory.

Ms. Chartan is an experienced litigator with a background in matrimonial/family law, civil rights and criminal law. Prior to working at Greenspoon Marder and redirecting her career to family law, Ms. Chartan worked as Deputy County Attorney defending Civil Rights causes of action in the federal courts and as an Attorney with the Criminal Defense Division of the New York Legal Aid Society.
