Helbert A. Canales-Rojas


Helbert A. Canales-Rojas is an associate in the Litigation practice group at Greenspoon Marder LLP. Mr. Canales-Rojas focuses his practice on business law, commercial litigation, construction litigation, and real estate litigation matters. During his time with the Firm, Mr. Canales-Rojas has assisted with a broad range of complex litigation matters. By way of example, Mr. Canales-Rojas has worked on disputes concerning: a high level corporate executive’s non-compete agreement where executive started a competing corporation; breach of fiduciary duties stemming from shareholder agreements; an election of the board of directors of a well-known non-profit organization; interpretation of commercial lease agreement allowing for development of entertainment event space in Brickell; a construction project where subcontractor performed work without a license; copyright ownership of architect’s plans in connection with building developed in Downtown Fort Lauderdale; inverse condemnation pursuant to Bert J. Harris Act allowing developer to recover against municipality for amendment to local ordinance restricting ability to develop high-rise building; foreclosures; purchase and sale agreements of real estate; rights of first refusal, and more.

While Mr. Canales-Rojas focuses his practice on litigation matters, his litigation experience provides a perspective into proactively avoiding lawsuits for business owners, general contractors, developers, and real estate investors by drafting and reviewing contracts, negotiating in the early stages of a dispute before proceeding to court, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and more.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Canales-Rojas worked as a law clerk for a boutique business law firm and a judicial intern for Senior Judge James L. King of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Mr. Canales-Rojas graduated from the Florida International University College of Law where he was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and a research assistant to Senior Judge Phyllis Kotey.
