Dr. Heywood Umanoff is a biochemist and molecular biologist who has conducted and published research in the areas of oncology and infectious disease. His postdoctoral work in mammalian genetics utilized gene targeting methods in mice in order to understand the function of the proto-oncogenes N-ras and K-ras. Following this work, Dr. Umanoff spent ten years in the biotechnology industry where his work focused on understanding basic disease mechanisms, with a focus on cancer, and on early drug development efforts. He reviews and analyzes scientific literature in the areas of oncology, immunology, toxicology, and epidemiology.
