Overview

The Honorable George P. Schiavelli is of counsel in the Appellate and Litigation practice groups at Greenspoon Marder LLP. Judge Schiavelli has had the unique opportunity of handling complex federal and state matters from both sides of the bench.

Judge Schiavelli has focused his practice principally on civil appellate matters. His litigation practice is devoted to complex commercial litigation. He has handled appellate and trial court litigation in matters relating to, inter alia, business and commercial law, intellectual property, employment, insurance, mass tort, securities, construction, and entertainment.

Judge Schiavelli was appointed a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge in 1994. Subsequently, in 2004, he was confirmed as a judge of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. While on the state trial court, he sat by assignment in the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division 7 and was the Presiding Judge of the superior court’s Appellate Division.  While on the federal district court, Judge Schiavelli regularly sat by assignment in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
