Kristen Morris


Kristen Morris is an associate attorney with the Cannabis Law practice group, where she focuses on advising marijuana and hemp businesses and investors on regulatory compliance, licensing, intellectual property, and corporate matters.  She assists with transactional matters, as well as administrative actions and litigation. Examples of her work include:

  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance with regards to marijuana business ownership, financing, and affiliated interests Contract drafting and negotiation of the transfer and sale of licensed marijuana businesses
  • Review of product labeling, packaging, and advertising for compliance with federal and state laws and advice on how manufacturers can reduce risk
  • Assist clients through complex state and local application and licensing processes
  • Ongoing advice regarding business contractual matters such as leases, employment, and manufacturing and supply agreements for proprietary technology and new product developers
  • Representation of clients in administrative matters before state and local authorities

Before joining Greenspoon Marder, Ms. Morris worked with partner Rachel Gillette as a law clerk in Lafayette, Colorado.  She also worked as general counsel for a social media app development company in New York City, and gained litigation experience as an associate at a commercial litigation firm in New Orleans.  Kristen earned her bachelors degree from Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs, where she studied Management and graduated as a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society.  She attended law school at Loyola University New Orleans School of Law, obtaining certificates in concentration programs for international and environmental law, and was a member of the Law and Technology Journal.  She also served as a judicial intern with Honorable Judge Ivan Lemelle of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Ms. Morris then clerked in the Clinical Legal Honors Program at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency headquarters in Washington D.C., focusing on waste and chemical enforcement matters while finishing law school as a visiting student at Georgetown Law.  She went on to obtain an L.L.M. from Georgetown Law, focusing in the studies of environmental health law, while also working as a research assistant to the school’s professors.
