Lauren G. Kane


Lauren Kane is an associate in Greenspoon Marder’s Litigation practice group.  Ms. Kane has represented multi-national businesses, small businesses, employers, and individuals in a wide range of legal matters. Her practice is primarily focused on the representation of plaintiffs and defendants in civil business litigation, including lawsuits relating to partnerships, joint ventures, fiduciary relationships, contracts, and various business torts. Ms. Kane’s practice also encompasses the representation of litigants in intellectual property disputes.

Representative Experience

  • Represented Plaintiff minority shareholders in shareholder derivative litigation alleging, among other things, breach of fiduciary duty and violations of the Corporations Code relating to an international telecommunications business, leading to Judgment for Plaintiffs in excess of $93,000,000
  • Represented Plaintiffs/Respondents on appeal of six-figure sanction award for discovery misuse following Appellants/Defendants’ disobedience of discovery order, resulting in successful affirmance of the award in a published opinion by the California Fourth Appellate District
  • Represented Respondent electronics manufacturing company in U.S. Customs and Border Protection Seizure cases concerning trademark validity. Filed successful Petition for Remission from Forfeiture resulting in dismissal of all cases and return of client property
  • Represented Claimant real estate development company in arbitration for claims relating to a joint venture for a commercial real estate development project in South America. Obtained a determination that implied indemnity mandated Respondent’s payment of project-related defense costs. Favorable Judgment included attorney’s fees for Claimant
  • Buyer’s counsel for multi-million dollar acquisition of Mexico-based manufacturing plant by Chinese parent company
  • Represented Defendant in lawsuit alleging, among other things, breach of joint venture agreement, and breach of lease relating to a champion show horse. Case was dismissed after Plaintiff accepted nominal pre-trial Code of Civil Procedure 998 settlement, which was less than 2% of amount demanded in Complaint
  • Represented Defendant homeowner in lawsuit alleging constructive trust and equitable lien related to allegations of fraud and embezzlement. Brought successful Motion to Expunge Lis Pendens (Notice of Pendency of Action), expunging the lis pendens on Defendant’s home to clear title and allow for home sale
