FORT LAUDERDALE – June 22, 2016 – Steven Fender, an attorney at Greenspoon Marder’s Fort Lauderdale office, will be a featured speaker for the American Bar Association webinar that will take place on Tuesday, June 28 th at 12:00pm EST. Mr. Fender along with a panel of other bankruptcy experts will discuss the U.S. Supreme Court taking aim at fraudulent conveyance schemes.
On May 16, 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court decided Husky International Electronics, Inc. v. Ritz, holding that the term “actual fraud” in § 523(a)(2)(A) of the Bankruptcy Code (one of the discharge exceptions) applies to fraudulent conveyance schemes even when those schemes do not involve a false representation. Fender and the panel will discuss the wide ranging impacts and opportunities this decision will have on businesses operating in the consumer bankruptcy environment.
Mr. Fender focuses his practice on bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters, in both state and federal courts. He has represented clients across the United States in a variety of employment disputes, shareholder negotiations and disputes, contract claims, unfair competition litigation, intellectual property, business tort and contract matters. His peers recently appointed him Chair of the State/Federal Judicial Liaison Committee for the Business Law Section of The Bar.

Between 2003 and 2007, Husky International Electronics, Inc., a supplier of electronic device components, sold and delivered electronic device components to Chrysalis Manufacturing Corp., an electronic circuit board manufacturer controlled, directed, and partially owned by Daniel Lee Ritz, Jr. Chrysalis failed to pay for goods that Husky had sold and delivered to Chrysalis that were worth a total of $163,399.38.
