Tapan R. Oza
Associate
Tapan R. Oza is an associate in the Litigation practice group at Greenspoon Marder LLP. Tapan focuses his practice on complex commercial and cross-border disputes and government investigations. Substantively, Tapan has handled matters involving RICO and securities laws and involving the Federal Arbitration Act. He represents clients in federal courts, including bankruptcy courts or administrative proceedings, state courts and arbitral proceedings, as well as in responding to government enforcement actions.
Tapan maintains an active pro bono practice. He has represented clients in, among other disputes, habeas corpus proceedings and applications to seal their records. Tapan is a member of the City Bar Justice Center’s Pro Bono Leadership Council.
Tapan earned his Juris Doctor degree while attending Columbia Law School and was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. During his third year of law school, Tapan attended Sciences Po in Paris, France, earning a master’s degree in Economic Law. Prior to that, Tapan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from New York University, with a minor in French.

Representative Experience
- Representation of a company in connection with various class actions alleging, among others, securities fraud, commodities fraud and RICO claims following the collapse of a digital asset.
- Representation of a corporation in bankruptcy proceedings that were filed by creditors of its subsidiary-debtors who had purportedly seized control of the debtors in a foreign country.
- Representation of an exploration company whose subsidiary’s claim was expropriated by a sovereign against fraudulent transfer claims.
- Representation of individual in connection with a motion to disqualify the client’s former lawyers from questioning him as a third-party witness in an arbitral proceeding.
- Representation of a shipping company to enforce an arbitral award against a sovereign.
- Representation of a producer in connection with FERC pipeline ratemaking proceedings.
- Pro bono representation of an unaccompanied minor: filed a habeas corpus petition to challenge the client’s detention without a hearing or bond by the federal government following his 18th birthday.
