DAVIE, Fla., Aug. 27, 2015 — Debbie’s Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) recently elected David Kubiliun to its Board of Directors. David has been DDF’s Gala Chair for the past three years and is the upcoming Dream Makers Gala Co-Chair.
David Kubiliun is currently the Chairman of Greenspoon Marder’s Criminal Law division and renowned for his effective representation of complex high-profile cases. He has appeared on international, national, and local media outlets, including: CNN, FOX News, Univision, and Telemundo. David’s legal advice column, “Preguntale al Abogado David,” ran in TV Notas Magazine from October 2010 – January 2013.
As a natural born leader, David Kubiliun has been recognized throughout multiple organizations. In 2007 and 2008, he was chosen by the South Florida Legal Guide as the Top Up and Coming Lawyer and was named as the Top Lawyer in Civil Rights and Criminal Defense in 2009 by the same group. He was also selected as a “Super Lawyer” in Criminal Defense for 2015. David is not only recognized for his dedication to his work but also his dedication to the community. Frederica Wilson, United States Congressional Representative, recognized David for his outstanding and invaluable service to the community.
Making his voice heard, David lobbied on behalf of Debbie’s Dream and raised awareness about stomach cancer at Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. in 2013 and 2014. His passion and dedication to end stomach cancer and advocate for all stomach cancer patients shines through at each event he attends and chairs. In addition to being the Gala Chair and advocating for DDF, David serves as a member of President Barack Obama’s National Latino Leadership Council.
Debbie Zelman founded DDF in 2009 after being diagnosed with Stage IV gastric cancer. Debbie’s Dream Foundation seeks as its ultimate goal to bring attention and action to this important cause. The organization encourages people to spread the word about early detection and screening because if a patient is diagnosed at an early stage, the chances of being cured dramatically increase.
