GREENSPOON MARDER DONATES TO DR. PHILLIPS CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP FUND IN REMEMBRANCE OF VICTIMS OF ORLANDO PULSE TRAGEDY
Orlando, FL – September 23, 2016 – Greenspoon Marder is honored to announce that the firm has donated $10,000 to the Arts for Every Life Scholarship Fund started by Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts. This gift is in remembrance of those in the Hispanic LGBTQ community that were affected by the Pulse nightclub tragedy earlier this year. Greenspoon Marder is Dr. Phillips Center’s largest law firm donor and has bestowed over $60,000 to the non-profit organization.
“Our firm chose the Arts for Every Life Scholarship to provide access to arts education to the community, inclusive of the Hispanic LGBTQ population” says Michael Marder, Co-Managing Director of Greenspoon Marder. “Our hope is that with these scholarships, the recipients – which are open to family members and victims of the Pulse tragedy – will have a way to heal, be inspired and assured that there are people who are supporting them.”
The Arts For Every Life Fund is a scholarship fund started by Dr. Phillips Center, which is dedicated to providing high-quality arts experiences for all walks of life to pursue artistic excellence under the guidance of professional artists. Greenspoon Marder’s donation will help reignite Dr. Phillips Center’s Legal Campaign. The Legal Campaign held prior to Grand Opening helped raise over $300,000. This second initiative, in conjunction with private philanthropy, will provide additional capital funds to help commence construction of Phase II of the arts center, which includes the 1700-seat acoustic Steinmetz Hall.
“Greenspoon Marder is proud to be an integral part of the Orlando community and will continue to aggressively ensure a better and brighter future for all our children,” comments Gerald Greenspoon, Co-Managing Director of Greenspoon Marder.
In late August, notifications were sent to all scholarship recipients for fall classes and Dr. Phillips Center has already received thank you notes from the students. One first-time scholarship recipient said in her note, “I would like to say a million thank you’s for the scholarship. This scholarship will help me continue growing and learning about the arts, which is my passion.”
The firm’s gift to the Arts For Every Life Scholarship Fund is making arts education possible for youth who are excited to overcome timidity related to public speaking, learn how to clearly articulate themselves, and explore new means of expression.
