Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – August 25, 2014 – Greenspoon Marder Law’s shareholder, Jeffrey Backman, and associate, Marla Neufeld, have been selected by The Daily Business Review for inclusion in the 214 Rising Stars, 40 Under 40 listing.
This recognition honors the Rising Stars of South Florida, those individuals that exemplify the next generation of leaders within the legal industry.
Backman is a shareholder in the firm’s Complex Business Group. He represents clients before state and federal courts throughout the country on various complex legal matters, focusing primarily on complex civil litigation and class action defense. He has been appointed to steering committees in multi-district litigation proceedings and has been recognized by Super Lawyer’s Magazine as a Florida Rising Star from 2009-2014 and by Florida’s Legal Elite as a “Top Up and Comer” from 2008-2010 and again in 2012. Backman is also committed to the community in which he was raised. He is a member of the Broward County Bar Association, Executive Director of the B’nai B’rith Justice Unit, and a member of Leadership Broward’s Class XXVII. In 2008, he was recognized by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as its “Man of the Year.” He received his Juris Doctorate, summa cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center and his Bachelor of Arts from Florida Atlantic University.
Neufeld heads up the Surrogacy Law practice group within the firm’s Marital & Family Law department, and is also a member of the Real Estate and Land Use & Zoning practice groups. She is a member of the Broward County Bar Association, an Executive Committee member of the Ghost Light Society of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and a member of the Assisted Reproductive Technology Committee of the American Bar Association. Neufeld volunteers pro bono legal services to Legal Aid Broward County for adoption and dependency work, and has previously served as Connect Co-Chair and an Executive Board member of Emerge Broward. She has been honored as a Florida Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2012 and 2014. Neufeld earned her Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts from American University.
