Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – December 9, 2015 – Former Florida State Senator Steve Geller, a shareholder at Greenspoon Marder Law, will be speaking at conferences held on January 6-10, 2016. The conferences are hosted by the Florida Gaming Conference and the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS).
At the Florida Gaming Conference, Geller will moderate a panel entitled, “Gaming and Pari-Mutuel Outlook.” During this panel, gaming and racing operators from throughout South Florida will discuss the opportunities and challenges in the highly competitive market. Additionally, he will be a speaker on the Special Committee Session on Pari-Mutuels panel at the NCLGS conference entitled, “Down the Stretch.” This panel will discuss the state of the horse-racing and greyhound-racing industries, trends in racing and wagering and the legality of other racing related matters.
Geller was a member of the Florida Legislature for 20 years where he served as the Minority Leader of the Florida Senate. He served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1988 to 1998, and was a member of the Florida Senate from 1998 to 2008. He served two terms as Chair of the Broward County Legislative Delegation, and two terms as Chair of the Hendry County Legislative Delegation. He has served as Chair of the Legislative Committees on Regulated Industries (alcohol, tobacco and gambling), Agriculture, and Comprehensive Planning (local government and growth management). Geller has also served the entire 20 years of his Legislative service on the Finance and Tax Committee, and has served as National President of both the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) and the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS).
Geller is admitted to the Florida Bar and received both his Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Arts from Florida State University.
