Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – November 19, 2024 – Greenspoon Marder announces Real Estate partner Dana L. Somerstein has been appointed to the board of the Women in Distress of Broward County, Inc. (WID). The organization is the only nationally accredited, state-certified, full-service domestic violence center serving Broward County. Ms. Somerstein is not only honored by her appointment but dedicated to the cause of providing support, resources, and compassion to victims of domestic violence and women in need.
Founded in 1974 by Edee Green and a group of concerned citizens, WID began as a modest four-bedroom home on Sistrunk Boulevard, becoming the first refuge for homeless women in Broward County. Over the past five decades, WID has grown into one of the largest and most multifaceted domestic violence agencies in the United States.
Ms. Somerstein represents clients in real estate transactions, including the acquisition, sale, financing, and leasing of commercial and residential properties. Outside of the firm, she is an active leader in her community. In addition to her role at WID, Ms. Somerstein is a current member of the Gold Coast Regional Council from Leadership Florida and the Vice Chair of the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Community Services Board. She also previously served as the Chair of 211 Broward and held other meaningful positions within the organization.
