Long Beach, CA – September 26, 2018 – Greenspoon Marder partner, Heather Burke, was a featured speaker at the State of Cannabis Conference on September 25th on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. The California Department of Food & Agriculture (CDFA) is in the process of defining cannabis “appellations,” which would allow farmers to label and market their crop with specific geographic areas. Farmers would codify what makes their crop unique, allowing for a higher value, and consumers would have a standard of quality and experience. Ms. Burke led a panel discussion about cannabis appellations and what this could mean for California farmers. The panel included Joanna Cedar, Public Affairs Manager of CannaCraft; Justin Calvino of Rejuvenation Center Foundation and Swami Chaitanya of Swami Select. Greenspoon Marder associate, Kelly Hayes, served as the panel moderator.
The State of Cannabis is a premier cannabis conference that brings together politicians, industry experts, and thought leaders from around the state.
Ms. Burke represents medical cannabis patients and cultivators throughout California and in federal court with a focus on cottage and small cultivators in Northern California.
