GREENSPOON MARDER SELECTED AS A 2016 EXCEPTIONAL EMPLOYER FOR THE STATE OF FLORIDA FOR EMPLOYING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Fort Lauderdale, FL – October 7, 2016 – Greenspoon Marder has been selected as a 2016 Exceptional Employer for the State of Florida for employing people with disabilities. The firm is among a select group of recipients to receive this award with ten businesses honored overall this year. The 11th annual celebration was held at Tallahassee City Hall on October 5th , recognizing October as Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), Blind Services, and Vocational Rehabilitation presented the Exceptional Employer Awards to companies that have a strong commitment to employing people with disabilities. Greenspoon Marder is proud to be a recipient of the Exceptional Employer award. The firm is an annual supporter of several nonprofit organizations including the Dan Marino Foundation and ARC Broward, who assist people with disabilities.
APD supports people with developmental disabilities to live, learn, and work in their communities. The agency annually serves more than 50,000 Floridians with autism, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome, and Prader-Willi syndrome.
Greenspoon Marder has hired four people with disabilities. In addition, the firm hosts job interns for nine weeks so they can gain hands on professional experience in a real working environment. After completing their nine week internship, some of the participants have been hired by the firm. Greenspoon Marder also participates in mentoring opportunities and mock job interviews to help people prepare to enter the workforce.
