Greenspoon Marder Senior Counsel Elizabeth Somerstein Adler has been reappointed by the City of Fort Lauderdale City Commission to serve a sixth term on the City’s Sustainability Advisory Board (SAB). Ms. Adler is presently the Vice-Chair of the SAB.
Her responsibilities as a board member include advising the City Commission regarding environmental sustainability; identifying and recommending affordable strategies associated with conservation, renewable energy and energy efficiency; and researching environmentally sound practices that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save money, energy and resources. The SAB has continued the work of its predecessor, the Citizens Sustainability “Green” Committee (CSGC), and continues to make recommendations in the hopes to establish the City of Fort Lauderdale as a leader in environmental sustainability.
Ms. Adler is a part of the Land Use and Zoning practice group, and focuses her practice on representing real estate developers and property owners on complex land use, zoning, and environmental permitting matters. Ms. Adler also handles a wide range of zoning, environmental, and land use litigation matters. Ms. Adler is credentialed by the U.S. Green Building Council as a LEED AP BD+C, which is an advanced professional credential obtained by only those professionals with significant expertise in the design and construction phases of green buildings, serving the commercial, residential, education and healthcare sectors.
