SEVEN KING HOLDINGS IN LARGEST TRANSACTION OF FLORIDA BOATING HISTORY
FORT LAUDERDALE – April 23, 2017 – Greenspoon Marder shareholder Barry Somerstein recently represented Seven King Holdings of Jupiter in what is said to be the largest marine transaction in the history of boating in Florida. Mr. Somerstein spearheaded the sale of 11 Loggerhead marinas that were acquired by Suntex Marina Investors, making the Dallas-based company Florida’s largest marina operator. Mr. Somerstein worked together with Suntex legal counsel, Powell Coleman & Arnold, to work through the very complex issues involved in connection with the transaction.

Seven Kings Holdings is one of Florida’s premier real estate land developers, managers, and operators. The privately held corporation has engaged in marina, multifamily, community, commercial, hotel, industrial, and resort development. As part of the deal, Suntex is pledging to maintain a philanthropic partnership with the nonprofit as Loggerhead Marina had done, and is donating $400,000 to support its work.
Mr. Somerstein’s practice focuses on real estate transactional law, finance, leasing, and land use. He has represented many clients in the negotiation, structuring and documenting of real estate asset transactions, primarily, in connection with shopping centers, hotels and office buildings. In addition to his busy practice, he is a Nova Ambassador Board Member, and an Executive Board Member of the Broward Performing Arts Authority Foundation. Mr. Somerstein is an Executive Board Member and General Counsel of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance.
