Fort Lauderdale, Florida – April 22, 2014 – Mark Somerstein, a shareholder at Greenspoon Marder’s Downtown Fort Lauderdale office, has been elected to the Board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.
The organization serves as a safe haven in which young individuals, aged 6-18, can develop the necessary values and skills to enhance their quality of life despite the pressures of today’s society. Children are afforded the opportunity to engage in social recreation, health and physical education courses, and leadership and citizenship development.
Somerstein concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate acquisition and development, banking and finance, and business law. He has handled sophisticated acquisitions, negotiations of contracts with contractors and architects, leasing and sales of shopping centers throughout the United States and all phases of lending work, including asset based lending.
Admitted to the Florida Bar, Somerstein is actively involved with community organizations and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Florida Law School. He has served on the American Bar Association’s Title Insurance Committee, is a past Board member of the United Jewish Communities of Broward, Inc., and past President of the Soref Jewish Community Center. He is also a past General Counsel and Board member for the Urban League and is an alumnus of Leadership Broward. Somerstein earned both his Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida.
