Fort Lauderdale, Florida – April 2, 2014 – Mark Somerstein, a shareholder at Greenspoon Marder’s Downtown Fort Lauderdale office, has been selected to receive the Public School Alumni Achievement Award by The Education Fund of Miami. The reception will be held on May 29, 2014 at the University of Miami Life Sciences and Technology Building.
The Education Fund of Miami seeks to engage the community and improve the quality of education provided to its students by uniting successful individuals within the private sector with Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

Somerstein concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate acquisition and development, banking and finance, and business law. He has handled sophisticated acquisitions, negotiations of contracts with contractors and architects, leasing and sales of shopping centers throughout the United States and all phases of lending work, including asset based lending.
Admitted to the Florida Bar, Somerstein is actively involved with community organizations as a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Florida Law School and a Board Member of the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County. He has served on the American Bar Association’s Title Insurance Committee, is a past board member of the United Jewish Communities of Broward, Inc., and past President of the Soref Jewish Community Center. He is also a past General Counsel and Board Member for the Urban League and is an alumnus of Leadership Broward. Somerstein earned both his Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida.
