Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – February 9, 2015 – Greenspoon Marder Law shareholder, Michael Bakst, has been appointed to the Planning Board for the City of West Palm Beach.
The Planning Board is responsible for proposing policies for physical development throughout the City of West Palm Beach as well as overseeing and advising all plans for development.
Bakst has been a member of the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals for the past 15 years and recently completed his term.
He practices in various fields of bankruptcy and insolvency, including representing creditors, debtors, bankruptcy trustees, receivers, and debtors, as well as representing litigants within complex bankruptcy matters, commercial litigation, receiverships, and assignments for the benefit of creditors. He is a panel United States Bankruptcy Trustee for the Southern District of Florida. Bakst has also served as an Examiner appointed through the offices of the United States Trustee.
An AV Preeminent rated attorney, Bakst frequently speaks at continuing education seminars for bankruptcy and commercial litigation practitioners, as well continued education seminars for trustees in bankruptcy on a regional level.
He has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America, 2010-2015, in the field of Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law.
Bakst earned his both his Juris Doctorate and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Miami.
He is an active member of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees as well as the Palm Beach County Bar Association. He previously served as the Director for the Bankruptcy Bar Association of the Southern District of Florida and an Appointee Member for the Standing Local Rules Advisory Committee of the Southern District of Florida.
