Alan B. Cohn is a partner in the Wills, Trusts & Estates practice group at Greenspoon Marder LLP. He helps individuals and families plan how their wealth will be managed, protected, and passed on. His work covers estate and tax planning for multiple generations, philanthropic planning, trust formation, asset protection planning, and the preparation and review of prenuptial, postnuptial, and cohabitation agreements.

Mr. Cohn builds comprehensive estate plans for families who want their assets to support loved ones and causes for generations to come. Those plans often include wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, and charitable foundations. He also uses advanced tools such as spousal lifetime access trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, and gifting trusts for grandchildren to transfer wealth to future generations in a tax-efficient way.

Mr. Cohn also guides families through trust administration after a loved one passes away. He handles marital and credit shelter trusts that provide for a surviving spouse, and dynasty trusts that hold and protect assets for children and later descendants. He prepares and files federal estate tax returns, including those for estates with no tax due, so the family has the right filings in place.

In addition, Mr. Cohn advises a wide range of clients on planning and establishing foundations and charitable trusts. He represents charitable organizations on the receipt of gifts and bequests and on their administrative affairs, including formation.

Mr. Cohn is deeply involved in the South Florida community. He is a former Board Chair of the Jewish Federation of Broward County, and in 2026 he received the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
