Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – October 12, 2023 – Greenspoon Marder is pleased to announce that the firm has successfully achieved Mansfield Rule 6.0 Certification. The firm began its second annual Mansfield Rule certification process dating back to July 2022 in continuance of expanding its commitment.
The Mansfield Rule, named after Arabella Mansfield – the first female lawyer admitted to practice law in the U.S. in 1869 – serves to increase the representation of historically underrepresented talent in law firms by broadening the pool of women lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, lawyers with disabilities, and underrepresented racial and/or ethnic lawyers. The structured certification process is designed to ensure all talent at participating law firms and legal departments have a fair and equal opportunity to advance into leadership.
To achieve Mansfield Rule certification, law firms are required to demonstrate their commitment to increasing the candidate pool for senior lateral positions, leadership and governance roles (including equity partner promotions), and formal client pitch opportunities. Throughout the process, firms implement and/or utilize measurement, transparency, and accountability mechanisms to show that at least 30% of candidates who are considered for such roles are from underrepresented groups.
“As a firm returning for our second year of Mansfield Rule certification, we were able to further quantify our successes and year-over-year growth, while also identifying areas of opportunity,” expressed Myrna L. Maysonet, the firm’s Chief Impact Officer and partner in the Labor and Employment practice group. “We are committed to ensuring that Greenspoon Marder’s passion for DE&I is one of action and continual enhancement, and we are grateful to do so alongside other industry leaders in the legal profession,” she added.
