Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – May 6, 2025 – Greenspoon Marder is pleased to announce that Land Use and Zoning partners Dennis Mele and Elizabeth Somerstein have successfully secured approval for the Phase 1 redevelopment of Oakwood Plaza, a prominent commercial center located in Hollywood, Fla. Representing Kimco Realty, they skillfully navigated the complex entitlement process to obtain the necessary approvals, marking a significant milestone in the broader revitalization of Oakwood Plaza.
Phase 1 of the redevelopment plan includes the construction of an approximately 120,000-square-foot commercial building. This new development will house South Florida’s first-ever full-service Dick’s House of Sport—an innovative retail concept by Dick’s Sporting Goods that combines traditional retail with immersive sports experiences. This unique addition to Oakwood Plaza is expected to attract a diverse range of visitors, enhancing the commercial appeal and economic vitality of the area.
The successful approval of this redevelopment project underscores Greenspoon Marder’s commitment to delivering exceptional legal services and achieving favorable outcomes for our clients. We are proud to have played a pivotal role in advancing this transformative project and look forward to witnessing the positive impact it will have on the community and the local economy.
