Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – May 6, 2025 – Greenspoon Marder is pleased to announce that Land Use and Zoning partners Dennis Mele and Elizabeth Somerstein have successfully secured approval for the Phase 1 redevelopment of Oakwood Plaza, a prominent commercial center located in Hollywood, Fla. Representing Kimco Realty, they skillfully navigated the complex entitlement process to obtain the necessary approvals, marking a significant milestone in the broader revitalization of Oakwood Plaza.

Phase 1 of the redevelopment plan includes the construction of an approximately 120,000-square-foot commercial building. This new development will house South Florida’s first-ever full-service Dick’s House of Sport—an innovative retail concept by Dick’s Sporting Goods that combines traditional retail with immersive sports experiences. This unique addition to Oakwood Plaza is expected to attract a diverse range of visitors, enhancing the commercial appeal and economic vitality of the area.
