Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – January 9, 2023 – Greenspoon Marder is pleased to announce that attorney Elizabeth Somerstein Adler is the recipient of an honorary award presented by the City of Fort Lauderdale, in recognition of her committed leadership and public service, from 2016 to 2021, as Chair and Member of the City’s Sustainability Advisory Board. As a demonstration of the Board’s commitment to energy efficiency, 100% of the energy used to make the actual award was neutralized through a carbon-offset program.
In 2010, the City of Fort Lauderdale formed an inter-departmental Green Team to act on environmental sustainability within their operations. That same year, the City Commission created the Citizen’s Sustainability “Green” Committee (CSGS), which later became known as the Sustainability Advisory Board. The purpose of SAB is to identify and make recommendations to the City Commission concerning affordable strategies associated with conservation, renewable energy, and energy efficiency (“green urbanism”).
Ms. Somerstein Adler is an attorney in the Land Use & Zoning practice group at Greenspoon Marder LLP. She concentrates her practice on representing real estate developers and property owners on complex land use, zoning, and environmental permitting matters. Her professional and community involvements extend to additional memberships, such as the Broward County Cultural Council, Gold Coast Builder Association Government Affairs Committee, and Leadership Broward, Class XLI.
