Orlando, FL – October 19, 2017 – Greenspoon Marder has organized transportation of food and supplies to be sent to families in Puerto Rico who have been affected by the recent Hurricane Maria. Led by Orlando shareholder, Myrna Maysonet, over 3,600 pounds of food, water and supplies will be distributed to 12 towns and 30 families in need. Approximately 15 of those families are directly related to attorneys and staff of the firm.
Greenspoon Marder’s Orlando and Fort Lauderdale offices sorted and boxed the 3,600 pounds of donated goods sent in from several of the firm’s offices including San Diego and Tampa. Additionally, Ms. Maysonet enlisted assistance on the ground to help transport and load the boxed goods once they have arrived to Puerto Rico.
Greenspoon Marder created the “GM Hurricane Maria Fund” with all proceeds being donated to United for Puerto Rico, an initiative brought forth by the First lady of Puerto Rico. In collaboration with the private sector, the initiative’s purpose is providing aid and support to those affected in Puerto Rico by the passage of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria. Over $5,000 has been raised by attorneys and staff, with the firm matching that amount. In total, over $10,000 has been contributed to the firm’s Puerto Rico relief efforts.
