Scottsdale, Ariz. – October 5, 2023 – Greenspoon Marder Intellectual Property practice group leader and partner Sharon Urias has been appointed to the International Amicus Committee for the 2024-2025 term by the International Trademark Association (INTA). Committee members fulfill their responsibilities by promptly and thoughtfully responding to assignments, participating in conference calls, and attending meetings. During their two-year committee term, members are also strongly encouraged to register for and attend a handful of leadership meetings.
The International Amicus Committee provides expertise concerning trademark and other IP-related laws to courts and trademark offices around the world through the submission of amicus curiae (“friend of the court”) briefs or similar filings. Their work includes advocating for acceptance of amicus briefs, evaluation of requests to file, monitoring leading cases, and drafting submissions, often on a tight deadline.
Ms. Urias has been practicing for over twenty-eight years and regularly represents clients in intellectual property litigation involving trademarks, trade secrets, domain name disputes, patents, and copyrights. Ms. Urias also has extensive experience in commercial litigation defending clients before state and federal courts throughout the country. She has covered a broad range of industries and litigated a wide range of legal issues.
