Orlando, Fla. – June 17, 2025 – Greenspoon Marder partner Tina Garcia and associate Andrew Domingoes are representing Justin and Robin Daniels in a groundbreaking lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. The Daniels, a couple from Jupiter, Fla., have initiated what appears to be the first lawsuit by a buyer of sovereign tribal tax credits.
The lawsuit, titled Justin M. Daniels v. Armanino Advisory LLC, was filed on May 29, 2025. It names White River Energy Corp., the sponsor of the tax credits, a wealth advisory firm, and their accounting firm, Armanino LLC, as defendants. The Daniels allege that they paid $1.62 million for tax credits they were assured were legitimate. However, the IRS rejected their 2023 tax return and assessed $149,000 in penalties, leading the Daniels to claim that the credits were part of a fraudulent scheme.
Ms. Garcia, a seasoned attorney with extensive experience in complex litigation, is committed to advocating for the Daniels as they seek justice and accountability. This case highlights significant issues surrounding the legitimacy and regulation of sovereign tribal tax credits, and its outcome may have far-reaching implications for similar transactions in the future.
