GREENSPOON MARDER SHAREHOLDER JODI LAURENCE TO BE A FEATURED SPEAKER AT THE CANNAHOLDINGS MEDICAL MARIJUANA EDUCATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
FORT LAUDERDALE – January 23, 2016 – Greenspoon Marder shareholder, Jodi Laurence, to be a featured speaker at the CannaHoldings Medical Marijuana Educational Symposium for Florida Physicians on March 11th at the Westin Fort Lauderdale. Ms. Laurence will join the “Legal Roundtable with Florida Healthcare Attorneys” to review key points from Amendment 2, potential liability matters and legal issues surrounding a federally illegal substance now legal in Florida.
The CannaHoldings Medical Marijuana Educational Symposium will unite more than 300 physicians from South Florida to explore and learn how medical marijuana may impact patients and their medical practice in the future. Attendees will explore the physiology of the Endocannabinoid system, discover how medical cannabis can be utilized for pain relief and treat the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Ms. Laurence is a Board Certified Health Law attorney. She has significant experience in all aspects of health law, including the formation and structuring of health care companies and multi-specialty group practices, mergers and acquisitions, contracting, corporate compliance and fraud and abuse issues.
Most recently, Ms. Laurence successfully represented a physician before the Board of Medicine in a state that allows medical marijuana for certain medical conditions. The case against the Board involved a physician recommending medical marijuana to a minor who suffers from a chronic illness. Ms. Laurence was able to prove to the Board that the physician met the standard of care required and the complaint was dismissed.
