Plantation, Fla. — Sept. 21, 2026 — The City of Plantation presented a proclamation sponsored by City Commissioner Louis Reinstein and entered by Mayor Nick Sortal to Beth-Ann Krimsky, national litigation division chair at Greenspoon Marder, and her husband, Dr. Peter Krimsky, declaring Sept. 16 Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. The proclamation recognizes the contributions of I Care I Cure (ICIC) Childhood Cancer Foundation and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in funding research for better and less toxic treatments for childhood cancer.
ICIC was founded by Beth and Brad Besner after the loss of their son Ian to childhood leukemia. Beth-Ann Krimsky served as president of I Care I Cure Childhood Cancer Foundation for 13 years, while Dr. Krimsky served as the organization’s medical research director. Together, with the entire community, they played a pivotal role in advancing the foundation’s mission, helping drive critical pediatric targeted therapy cancer research, expand awareness, and foster initiatives that have brought hope to countless children and families facing cancer.
For years, ICIC championed research focused on improving the quality of life for childhood cancer survivors by supporting treatments with fewer long-term complications. Following its integration with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, that legacy continues on a larger scale, expanding support for lifesaving research and advancing the fight against childhood cancer across the country.
