COCONUT CREEK, FL – SOS Children’s Villages Florida, the largest foster care provider in Broward County, in partnership with Celebrity Cruises will host a luncheon on October 4 th from 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM dockside on the Celebrity Equinox, Port Everglades. The funds raised from this event will help keep the children, ages newborn to 18 years, all with a history of abuse, neglect or abandonment, live stable and safe lives. The event, which has limited seating, will also treat guests to a special ship preview tour that will also give guests a special SOS discount to sail Celebrity Cruises. The event is chaired by Michelle Martinez Reyes, Chief Marketing Officer at Greenspoon Marder LLP and presented by Greenspoon Marder LLP.
The guest speaker will be Heidi Schaeffer, M.D., President of the Human Trafficking Coalition of the Palm Beaches. She will address the serious human trafficking issues impacting South Florida, while showing the correlation between trafficked victims and children and entering foster care.
Our 13 family-style homes around a cul-de-sac in Coconut Creek are each staffed by a full time live in houseparent and SOS offers an array of support services and enrichment opportunities allowing the children to have a special childhood where they can heal and grow into productive adults. SOS continues to work with the children as they enter young adulthood and make the transition from SOS to independence. Through our Next Steps program, on-going support is provided in areas including counseling, emergency assistance, advocacy, and links to employment and housing.
