2018 Farm Bill Vote Postponed

December 4, 2018

By: Nabil Rodriguez*

On November 29, 2018, the U.S. House and Senate Agricultural Committee leaders announced an agreement in principle on the 2018 Farm Bill with the inclusion of the full language of the 2018 Hemp Farming Act. The proposed farm bill would legalize industrial hemp at the federal level by carving an exemption from the Controlled Substances Act for industrial hemp cultivated under state pilot research programs.

Final passage of this bill was expected to take place this week; however, in honor of the nation’s mourning for the late President George H. W. Bush, the House has canceled all votes for this week and has rescheduled voting for Monday December 10, 2018.

Should you have any questions regarding how the passage of this new 2018 Farm Bill may affect your hemp business, please contact your Greenspoon Marder attorney.
