As musing as 2023 comes to an end and the Hospitality Group winds down its year, it’s no accident that hospitality, hospital, and hospice share the same etymology. An excess of one surely leads to the inevitability of the other. Regardless, in the face of the turmoil and tumult all around us, throw caution to the wind and recite the hospitality attorney and client’s prayer:
Let’s be grateful for alcohol.
In the face of battling vested interests, namely retail, wholesale, and manufacturer, let’s be grateful for alcohol.
To the policymakers, lobbyists, and regulators who design and implement the paradigm of the trade, let’s be grateful for alcohol.
To industry colleagues, who argue points of law ad infinitum, let’s be grateful for alcohol.
To our clients, whose legal needs and time-sensitive requests are met with aplomb and good cheer, let’s be grateful for alcohol.
And in the name of our profession, the Son and the Holy Ghost, and my therapist, let’s be grateful for alcohol.
So as, we enter 2024, with the excitement of the year to come, which surely will bring new clients and old clients to the door, challenging legal issues to the fore-to this we say…let’s be grateful for alcohol.
So, let’s raise our glass, say Happy 2024, and much success in this coming year.
