Jeffrey A. Backman is a partner in the Litigation practice group at Greenspoon Marder LLP and co-chair of the Class Action Defense practice group. Mr. Backman focuses his practice on complex class action defense and general commercial litigation, with a particular focus on consumer statutory claims, such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) litigation. He has defended clients in federal courts throughout the country and is at the forefront of the legal landscape involving the telemarketing industry.

Mr. Backman serves as a trusted advisor on legal compliance and defense strategies before regulatory bodies, including the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and State Attorneys General. His advisory role ensures that clients are well-prepared to meet regulatory challenges and maintain compliance with complex legal standards.

Early in his career, Mr. Backman defended a large client in the multidistrict litigation involving the manufacture and sale of Chinese drywall, where he was the youngest member of both the state and federal court defense steering committees, also serving as lead and liaison counsel in certain state courts.

Mr. Backman is a sought-after speaker at national conferences, where he shares his insights on TCPA compliance and litigation trends. Notably, he has been a featured speaker at the Professional Association for Customer Engagement (PACE) Summit, providing valuable guidance on the evolving landscape of TCPA regulations.
