Overview

Mr. Ansari is a partner in the Corporate and Litigation practice groups at Greenspoon Marder, advising on corporate and commercial transactions, M&A, finance, domestic and international litigation (American & Indian law), and arbitration. In addition, Mr. Ansari advises U.S. corporations on matters pertaining to Indian business law, banking, foreign exchange regulations and foreign direct investment issues.

Mr. Ansari provides his clients with more than four decades of experience in representing India-based industrial, servicing, and trading companies doing business in the U.S., including several large Indian conglomerate businesses with international reach and particularly extensive U.S. business objectives and holdings.  He also represents U.S. industrial and financial clients doing business in India.

Prior to becoming a lawyer in the U.S., Mr. Ansari practiced law in India for over ten years, obtaining a remarkable track record of countless cases reported by the Indian Supreme Court. His Indian law experience includes negotiating and structuring joint ventures, technology transfer and shareholder agreements, corporate restructuring, tax, international bidding, financing, and developing energy, telecommunication, and other infrastructure projects, as well as litigation and arbitration. He has handled sensitive disputes between U.S. companies and their Indian partners. He has also advised U.S. companies on how to handle the fallout in India resulting from deferred prosecution agreements signed by U.S. companies with the Department of Justice.

Mr. Ansari understands the complexity of doing business in India and assists his clients to ameliorate transactional risk in a cost-efficient manner. He helps his clients remain competitive on both a regional and global scale.

  • Represented and settled a major litigation for Union Carbide Corporation in India arising from the Bhopal Gas Leak Disaster in India
  • Represented one of the largest Indian information technology companies on various legal issues in its entry and phenomenal growth in the U.S. Market
  • Represented several Indian pharmaceutical companies as their main outside counsel in U.S.
  • Represent several international banks as their outside counsel
  • Handled multiple M&A matters for Indian companies acquiring various businesses in U.S.
  • Broad litigation experience in various types of disputes in U.S. courts
  • Handled multiple sensitive issues for U.S. corporations in India, including violations of FCPA, disputes with Indian partners, litigation in Indian courts and arbitrations
