The Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) recently announced increased fees for telemarketers and sellers to access the National Do Not Call (“DNC”) Registry for Fiscal Year 2027. The new fees will take effect October 1, 2026.
Under the FTC’s announcement, the fee for accessing a single area code will increase from $82 to $85 for FY 2027. The maximum annual fee for accessing all area codes nationwide will increase from $22,626 to $23,425. In addition, the fee for accessing an additional area code for a half-year will increase from $41 to $43.
The first five area codes remain available at no charge, and certain organizations that are exempt from the DNC Registry requirements may access the entire Registry without paying a fee. Telemarketers generally must subscribe annually to obtain access to the Registry and are expected to use the Registry to avoid placing covered calls to consumers who have registered their telephone numbers.
The fee increase is relatively modest, but it serves as a useful reminder for businesses engaged in telemarketing to review their DNC compliance procedures before the new fiscal year begins. Businesses should confirm that they have current access to the Registry, are downloading applicable area codes at the required intervals, and have appropriate internal procedures for scrubbing call lists against both the National DNC Registry and any company-specific do-not-call requests.
