In light of the upcoming elections, Greenspoon Marder’s Steve Geller recalls helping to launch Charlie Crist’s political career during his college years. As the head of a student government faction at Florida State University in the late 70’s, Geller sought out Crist in an effort to build a winning ticket. “Student government at FSU wasn’t bake sales. It was real money. Our budget was in the millions. Our budget and student government population were bigger than normal cities. The campaigns were very serious. I was the chairman of one of the political parties, and I was out finding candidates when I met Charlie,” said Geller. “People just flock to Charlie because he is interested in them. He listens.”
