Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – November 7, 2023 – Greenspoon Marder Real Estate associate Frank Whitaker successfully represented a client of Joseph C. Wasch, of counsel of the Franchise Group, as the buyer of a shopping center named “Dirksen Commons” located in Springfield, Ill. in a deal valued at $3.8 million. The legal team guided the buyer in the preliminary steps with a letter of intent, through contract negotiation, due diligence, title, lease review, and ultimately with the closing in a span of just over thirty days.

Mr. Wasch provides more than 40 years of experience in concentrating his practice on franchise industry matters, involving business structuring, entity organization and corporate governance, private equity and debt financing transactions, acquisitions, and sales of businesses, drafting and reviewing software and intellectual property licensing/sale, employment law and human resources issues, trademark matters, purchase contracts, and complex commercial transactions. He also regularly represents and provides counsel to franchisors, franchisees, large businesses, tech companies, and startups.

Mr. Whitaker concentrates his practice on counseling buyers and sellers in a broad range of real estate transactions, including the development, purchase, sale, and leasing of commercial, office, and residential real estate. He regularly represents institutional and hard money lenders in all manners of commercial real estate financing and provides counsel on land use matters, real estate litigation, and corporate matters.
